When Jake first started working alongside Momenta, he was quiet, spent most of his time surfing and wanted to find work, but didn’t know what he wanted to do or how he could go about achieving what he wanted. 8 months down the track he is still pretty quiet, still spends a solid amount of time in the ocean but has now found employment in something he loves to do, he has grown massively in his self-confidence and has shown a lot of personal growth.
Over his time with Momenta, Jake has connected with his community through working alongside different organisations such as Habit Health, to help him with pre-employment training, and gained valuable and transferable skills through volunteering with Good Neighbour. In addition to connecting with his community and building new relationships, Jake was involved with goal setting and discovering what things were important to him in order to achieve his ‘good life’. Following this, he joined a gym in the Mount and is currently partaking in a 6-week fitness challenge. Recently, Jake had the opportunity to interview for a groundskeeper role at Tauranga Girls College and secured the job!
Congratulations to Jake for the work he has put into achieving his goals. He has had the courage to challenge himself and step out of his comfort zone in order to become a happier, healthier version of himself. Well done, Jake!
